Galerie Kovacek & Zetter, Vienna
The Kovacek & Zetter gallery, situated just a short distance from Saint Stephen's Cathedral (Stephansdom) in the heart of Vienna, was established in 1999 by Claudia Kovacek-Longin and Sophie Zetter-Schwaiger. Today, it stands as one of Vienna's largest galleries, showcasing its diverse collection across three floors covering an expansive 300 square meters.
One of its prominent features is its extensive collection of Austrian paintings from the 19th and 20th centuries, encompassing a wide spectrum of styles ranging from Biedermeier to Austrian modern impressionism and classical modernism. The gallery proudly exhibits major works by renowned artists such as Egon Schiele, Carl Moll, Olga Wisinger-Florian, Alfons Walde, and others.
In addition to its pre-1945 classical art focus, which includes notable pieces by Wolfgang Hollegha, Kiki Kogelnik, Maria Lassnig, Josef Mikl, Markus Prachensky, and Max Weiler, the gallery places a strong emphasis on contemporary art. This contemporary art representation features painters such as Beni Altmüller, Anselm Glück, Ingrid Brandstetter, and accomplished sculptors like Rosemarie Benedikt, Massimo Lunardon, and Barbara Szüts.
Throughout the year, the gallery hosts a series of four to six exhibitions, each accompanied by scholarly catalogues to provide a comprehensive experience for art enthusiasts and collectors alike.
