Galerie L'Estampe, Strasbourg

Galerie L'Estampe, Strasbourg

Established in 1979 by Thierry Lacan, the Galerie l'Estampe boasts an extraordinary assortment of original engravings, paintings, and drawings. With over 2,500 works spanning a diverse range of artists including Adami, Arroyo, Bogart, Coignard, Combas, Corneille, Di Rosa, Erro, Klasen, Liot, Segui, Soulié, Speedy Graffito Villeglé, and Waydelich, the collection is truly exceptional.

The gallery not only showcases contemporary artists' unique creations but also houses a selection of ancient engravings dating back from the 15th to the 19th century. These encompass a variety of subjects, from Strasbourg and regional themes to diverse topics such as botany, fashion, and history.

Beyond its curation of internationally acclaimed artworks by painters and engravers, l'Estampe serves as both an advocate for outstanding local artists and a publisher specializing in art prints. All exhibited prints are distinctive, limited in number, and originate from top-tier workshops, upholding a production approach rooted in tradition.

Moreover, the gallery doubles as a publishing house that has fostered collaborations with global artists for over 15 years, distinguished notably by its exclusive aquagravure workshop in France. The aquagravure technique creates paper and engravings together. Artists etch motifs on a wax plate, making a flexible mold. Colored mold is applied to paper pulp on a press, pressed, and dried. Each piece is then refined manually for intricate details.
