Krakowianka Ice Rink, Krakow

Krakowianka Ice Rink, Krakow

The Krakowianka Ice Rink is situated on Siedleckiego Street in Krakow. Named in honor of Adam "Roch" Kowalski, a celebrated triple Olympian in ice hockey, this arena has played a pivotal role in nurturing ice hockey talent and providing a space for the community to enjoy ice-related activities.

The Krakowianka Ice Rink was established on July 1, 1956. After years of hard work, it opened on July 18, 1961, ushering in a new era of ice sports in Krakow. The first match featured Cracovia and Start Katowice, with Cracovia rebounding from a 3-1 loss to win 4-3 in a rematch the next day.

In 1976, the arena was covered, enabling year-round ice activities. This expansion improved its versatility for different sports and events. A smaller rink was also added in 1966, offering a cozier space for training and recreation alongside the main arena.

The Krakowianka Ice Rink isn't just for ice hockey; it becomes an open-air ice-skating rink in winter, operating alongside the Galeria Krakowska shopping mall hours. Skating enthusiasts and families can enjoy gliding on the ice, with amenities like snacks, changing rooms, and equipment rental available. It's a welcoming place for all skill levels.
