Los Milenios (Millennia Sculpture), Puerto Vallarta

The Millennia Statue, created by artist Mathis Lidice (Félix Fernando Baños López) in 2001, is a striking bronze sculpture located at the northern end of Puerto Vallarta’s Boardwalk. Symbolizing the passage of time and the evolution of humanity, the sculpture begins with a double helix of DNA at its base-representing the origin of life-and ascends in a spiral form culminating with a dove of peace, embodying hope for the future. Along its spiraling form, historical figures such as Charlemagne and the pre-Hispanic poet-king Nezahualcóyotl are interwoven into the design, bridging ancient wisdom and future aspirations in a single vertical narrative.

This thought-provoking sculpture has become a favorite stop for visitors exploring the Boardwalk, offering a contemplative pause amid the lively energy of the waterfront. It’s not just a monument to science and history, but also a work of public art that harmonizes with Puerto Vallarta’s vibrant cultural landscape.

The surrounding plaza often serves as a venue for festivals, photo ops, and quiet moments of reflection. As the day fades, the statue is elegantly illuminated, highlighting its fine details and enhancing its visual impact against the Pacific coastline.
