Mono Cafe Bar, Glasgow

Mono Cafe Bar, Glasgow

Mono Cafe Bar is one of Glasgow’s best-known independent cultural venues, combining a vegan café-bar, live music space, and record-shop ambience under one roof. Opened in 2002, it has become a strong example of the city’s lively, open, and diverse cultural scene. Located in the Merchant City, close to some of Glasgow’s main nightlife and arts areas, Mono is known for its ethical outlook, community-minded spirit, and welcoming atmosphere.

Its fully vegan menu is one of the main draws, with fresh food prepared in-house and designed to show how varied and satisfying plant-based cooking can be. The drinks selection also receives careful attention, with beers and other beverages chosen to complement the food and the venue’s relaxed setting.

However, Mono is more than a place to eat and drink. Sharing its building with Monorail Music, an independent record shop, it has long attracted music lovers, artists, writers, and curious visitors. Over more than 20 years, the venue has hosted a broad programme of events, from concerts by local and international bands to art shows, book readings, performances, launches, and workshops.
