Museum of Military Glory of the Pacific Border District, Vladivostok

The Museum of Military Glory of the Pacific Border District traces Russia’s Far Eastern border service. Opened publicly in 1985, it grew from older border-guard archives linked to Soviet security structures. This background gives the museum a particular character: it turns once-restricted military records, service objects, and official memory into a public historical display.

The museum holds thousands of catalogued exhibits, including banners, documents, photographs, weapons, uniforms, medals, maps, and personal belongings. Displays also include contraband, improvised weapons, surveillance devices, and other objects from border incidents. A separate section highlights service dogs, with photographs and equipment showing their role in tracking intruders across forests, rivers, and winter terrain.

A major part of the exhibition is devoted to twentieth-century conflicts along the Soviet border, especially the 1938 fighting near Lake Khasan and the 1969 clash on Damansky Island. Letters, uniform fragments, tactical gear, and other relics give these events a human scale. Set in a restrained historic stone building, it suits visitors interested in Soviet institutions, border security, and Far Eastern military history.
