Museum of the Northeastern Man, Recife

The Museum of the Man of the Northeast is a federal institution under the Joaquim Nabuco Foundation and the Ministry of Education. It was founded in 1979 by merging three earlier museums: the Museum of Anthropology, the Museum of Popular Art, and the Sugar Museum.

The Museum of the Man of the Northeast's collections highlight the diverse cultural roots of Brazil, showcasing items from black, indigenous, and white cultures. These artifacts range from plantation owner possessions to everyday objects from poorer households, folk art, indigenous items, and more.

The museum focuses on educational and cultural activities, aiming to foster understanding and dialogue among different social groups. Its exhibitions and events are designed to reflect on Brazilian identity, promote cultural diversity, and contribute to reducing social inequalities.
