The Gilberto Freyre Foundation is a cultural institution established on March 11, 1987. Its aim is to contribute to the political-social, scientific-technological, and cultural development of Brazilian society. It was inspired by the influences of Gilberto Freyre.

The foundation exhibits personal belongings, antique furniture, fine porcelains, silverware, and pieces of folk art. There is also a rich art gallery with works by Cícero Dias, Lula Cardoso Ayres, and Di Cavalcanti (including paintings by Gilberto Freyre himself), showcasing the writer’s artistic preferences.
