Espaco Pasargada (Pasargada Space), Recife

Espaço Pasárgada, established in 1986, is set in a 19th-century house linked to Manuel Bandeira. He lived here between the ages of six and ten, a period he described as shaping his “childhood mythology,” a world of memory and imagination. Scenes from this time, including local street life, appear in his poem Evocação do Recife, connecting the house to his writing.

The building retains a simple residential layout, with modest rooms adapted into exhibition spaces. Inside, visitors find photographs, manuscripts, first editions, and personal objects that present Manuel Bandeira’s literary career and connections, arranged to reflect different stages of his work.

In addition to its museum function, Espaço Pasárgada operates as a cultural venue. It hosts temporary exhibitions, poetry readings, and educational programs focused on literature and artistic expression. These activities connect the historical setting of the house with ongoing cultural production, allowing visitors to engage both with Bandeira’s legacy and with contemporary interpretations of his work.
