Oil and Gas Development Company Building, Islamabad

Oil and Gas Development Company Building, Islamabad

The Oil and Gas Development Company Building is one of the main corporate landmarks linked to Pakistan’s energy sector. Designed by Nayyar Ali Dada and Associates, it reflects the work of one of Pakistan’s most respected architects, known for major civic and cultural projects. Built between 1992 and 1994, the structure rises about 170 feet and has 21 floors, making it a strong mid-rise presence in the capital’s business skyline.

Its form is based on four octagonal towers grouped together. This shape was not only visual; it helped improve cross-ventilation and gave office workers wider views toward the surrounding city and the Margalla Hills. The cream-toned façade, vertical panels, and blue-green glass sections create a clear upward rhythm, while the upper window bands add a softer movement to the building’s heavy geometry.

The building covers about 330,000 square feet and was built at a historical cost of around 280 million Pakistani rupees. Inside, its floors were planned for different operational needs rather than simple repeated office layouts. Inside are specialized engineering and drilling-data areas, plus a 120-seat auditorium for petroleum events. The building reflects the role of energy administration in the capital’s modern identity.
