Rose and Jasmine Garden, Islamabad

Rose and Jasmine Garden, Islamabad

Rose and Jasmine Garden is a public green space created in the 1970s as part of the capital’s planned landscape. Covering about 20,360 square meters, it was first known as the Government Rose Garden before being renamed to reflect the presence of jasmine, Pakistan’s national flower. The garden contains around 250 varieties of roses and about 12 types of jasmine, giving it strong seasonal color and fragrance.

The layout includes flower beds, open lawns, shaded resting areas, running trails, a walking track, and a cycling track. Besides roses and jasmine, visitors can also see seasonal flowers such as marigolds, petunias, and daisies. A small outdoor café adds a casual dining option, while the nearby tourist camping site makes the area useful for budget travelers and backpackers.

The garden is also known for its spring flower shows, organized with support from horticultural and civic bodies. These events display rose varieties, ornamental plants, and landscaped arrangements, attracting families, photographers, and gardening enthusiasts. For tourists, the garden offers a calm look at local outdoor life, horticulture, and the role of planned green spaces in the city’s development.
