Palazzo Bellavite (Bellavite Palace), Venice

Palazzo Bellavite (Bellavite Palace), Venice

This beautiful palace, dating back to the 16th century, overlooks Saint Maurice's Square ("Campo San Maurizio") and stands out among the Venetian palaces. Unlike the majority, it boasts two balconies instead of pointed arch windows, a rare feature in the city. With its solid and well-constructed structure, the palace combines convenience and decor, although the frescoes by Paolo Veronese that once adorned its exterior have vanished over time.

It is believed that the nearby church of Saint Maurice (San Maurizio) once had a bell tower standing in close proximity to the palace, but it has since been demolished. The palace's foundation can be attributed to Dionisio Bellavite, a prosperous Venetian merchant who played a significant role in the city's rise to greatness through trade. As you enter the edifice and ascend the stairs, you will be greeted by beautifully arranged noble rooms.
