Pinzgauer Diele (Pinzgau Hall), Zell am See

Pinzgauer Diele is a long-running pizzeria, disco, and après-ski bar close to the Hundertwasser Österreich-Brunnen, also known as the Hundertwasser Austria Fountain. Since 1964, Pinzgauer Diele has been part of the local nightlife scene, focused on après-ski, music, late evenings, and casual international food. Its name refers to Pinzgau, the historic regional identity of the district.

The menu and setting are built around casual comfort rather than formal alpine cuisine. Visitors can expect familiar dishes such as pizzas, burgers, pasta, salads, and drinks that suit groups coming from skiing, sightseeing, or an evening walk. In winter, Pinzgauer Diele becomes a lively après-ski spot. Later, live music, DJs, cocktails, and dancing turn it into a late-night venue for visitors seeking more than a quiet meal.

The nearby Hundertwasser fountain adds an unusual cultural layer to the visit. The fountain’s nine ceramic columns represent Austria’s federal states, with heights based on population size and colors reflecting the official coats of arms of each state. Its water circulates in a closed loop from the lake, rising and falling in cascades. Conceived in 1996 and completed in 2003 after Hundertwasser’s death, it also sits within a place shaped by monastic origins, alpine tourism, and Porsche family heritage.
