Rozet (Rozet Heritage Center), Arnhem

The Rozet Heritage Center has been a significant cultural institution in Arnhem since it opened on December 10, 2013. It's located in the basement of Rozet and serves as a place to preserve and showcase the history of Arnhem and its surrounding area.

The Historical Museum Arnhem, established in June 1996, used to house historical collections related to the municipality of Arnhem. In 2012, it merged with the heritage department of the Gelderland Library, giving rise to the Heritage Center. This merger was a crucial turning point, as it became an integral part of the newly inaugurated Rozet knowledge and culture center.

Princess Beatrix inaugurated Rozet, a multi-purpose center housing the Heritage Center, Arnhem Public Library, People's University, and Arnhem Art Company. The Heritage Center explores twelve key historical themes through audio-visual presentations, offers a part of the Gelderland Library's book collection for borrowing, and provides access to a depot holding around 30,000 ancient manuscripts and printed materials from diverse sources, including former monasteries, the Court and Government of Gelderland, the city library of Arnhem, the former Gelderse Academy in Harderwijk, the Arnhem Historical Society 'Prodesse Conamur,' and legacies of notable Arnhem residents like Alexander Ver Huell and Willem Hendrik Duller.

The "treasury" is a restricted area accessible during special events, displaying Arnhem Library's ancient manuscripts and prints from the 15th century. This collection features manuscripts from 1433, 1469, and 1473, along with a 1498 cradle print known as the Biblia cum glossa ordinaria from Basel, housing a Latin Bible with standard glosses. It also holds various printed works from Gelderland and Arnhem spanning the 16th and 17th centuries, including an Atlas by Blaeu and an Encyclopédie (1751-1772) by Diderot and d'Alembert.
