Sindhu Night Market, also known as Pasar Sindhu, offers a local way to experience Sanur after sunset. By day, it is a clean, organised market for groceries, fruit, flowers, and household goods, sometimes called Pasar Ramah dan Segar, or “Friendly and Fresh Market.” In the evening, food stalls open, tables fill up, and the air carries the smell of grilled meat, fried snacks, spices, and sweet pancakes.

For visitors, the main draw is food. Stalls serve Indonesian and Balinese favourites such as nasi goreng, mie goreng, bakso, satay, grilled seafood, and fresh juices. Popular choices include martabak manis, a thick sweet pancake, and sate ayam, chicken skewers with peanut sauce. Regional influences also appear, from Banyuwangi-style cooking to Balinese and Javanese versions of nasi campur.

The market isn’t just a business; it’s a social anchor for Sanur. Historically, it was a place for workers to grab a quick, cheap meal on their way home. Today, it’s one of the few places in a heavily tourist-focused area like Sanur where the demographics remain about 60% local and 40% traveler. The market is informal but orderly, with fixed prices and fast-moving ingredients. Around 6:30 PM, most vendors are ready, and the stall lights, satay smoke, and small children’s ride shape the evening scene.
