Solvberget Library and Cultural Center, Stavanger

Sølvberget Library and Cultural Centre is Rogaland's most popular cultural hub, attracting over 1.6 million visitors annually. It's a must-visit spot for both adults and children exploring Stavanger's city centre. Sharing space with the Odeon cinema, Sølvberget offers more than just books-you can borrow them for free, or simply relax with a cup of coffee, read, listen to music, play games, study, or use our computers, printers, and scanners.

For film enthusiasts, Sølvberget boasts one of the best film collections in the country, screening both new releases and timeless classics at the Sølvberget Cinematek every week. On the first floor, the Silverberget Gallery showcases contemporary art in rotating exhibitions throughout the year.

Every Thursday at noon, Sølvberget hosts book talks with leading authors. These sessions are free, but they fill up quickly, so arriving early is a good idea. Don’t miss their literary evenings, featuring in-depth interviews with the most talked-about writers. Several times a year, it also presents Global Morning and Evening, where national experts discuss international news and issues.

The Kielland Centre, integrated into Sølvberget in 2019, honors Stavanger's literary giant, delving into both Norwegian classics and contemporary literature. Visitors are welcome to explore the Kielland Centre, located on the ground and third floors.

Sølvberget is dedicated to offering knowledge and enriching experiences daily. Each week, it offers activities such as children’s storytime, homework clubs, drawing workshops, language courses, children's theatre, genealogy guidance, and board games-most of which are free of charge.
