Steve McQueen's House, Palm Springs

Steve McQueen's House, Palm Springs

Sitting at the foot of the San Jacinto mountains, Steve McQueen's home is a mid-century modern marvel that has been featured in the pages of Architectural Digest. Huge windows let light into every room, and every room feels intimately connected to the desert mountains. It was designed by architect Hugh Kaptur and built in 1964. The home was listed for sale in 2016 for $4.6 million.

McQueen was an American actor nicknamed the “King of Cool.” He was a top-billed box office star in the 1960s and 70s, his best-known roles being Bullitt (1968), The Cincinnati Kid (1965), Papillon (1973), and The Getaway (1972). He was also well-known for his parts in the ensemble films The Great Escape (1963) and The Magnificent Seven (1960). At one point in the 1970s, he was the highest paid actor in history.
