Technisches Museum, Vienna
The Vienna Technical Museum can be found in the Penzing district along Mariahilferstraße. The idea to establish this museum dedicated to technology was put forth in 1908, with the construction of the building commencing in 1909. On June 20, 1909, Emperor Franz Josef laid the foundation stone, and the museum officially opened its doors in 1918.
Within its permanent exhibition, the museum covers various categories, including Nature and Knowledge, encompassing topics such as astronomy, principles, and physics; Heavy industry, featuring mining, iron, and steel; Energy; Mass production of luxury goods; Everyday life with practical directions for use; Communications and information media; Musical instruments; Transport; and Basic Research, which offers insights into the adventurous pursuit of scientific knowledge.
