Torre Glories (Glories Tower), Barcelona

Dominating the landscape stands the lipstick-shaped Glòries Tower, previously known as the Agbar Tower (a moniker derived from its association with the water company Aguas de Barcelona), conceived by French architect Jean Nouvel and erected in 2005. Often referred to as the "suppository" by locals, this 38-story edifice soars to a height of 142 meters (466 feet), presenting one of the most audacious additions to Barcelona's skyline since the inception of the first towers of La Sagrada Família.

As the third tallest structure in Barcelona, the Glòries Tower boasts a glass facade that ignites the nocturnal ambiance with an interplay of ever-shifting shades of red and blue, thanks to an array of 4,500 LED lights. Ascending to its uppermost levels, one discovers a viewing platform that offers panoramic vistas of the cityscape, featuring an installation crafted by Argentinian artist Tomás Saraceno. Ascending to this lofty perch is a swift experience, as the elevator ascends 30 floors in a mere 34 seconds.

Red, blue, pink, white, yellow, grey, purple, green – you name it, the tower has it. The light show is worthy of witnessing, particularly at night.
