Universal Studio Japan, Osaka

Universal Studio Japan, Osaka (must see)

Universal Studios Japan (USJ), located in the Osaka Bay Area, is a premier destination for entertainment and one of the most frequented amusement parks in Japan. Established in 2001, it holds the distinction of being the first Universal Studios theme park in Asia. Over the years, USJ has undergone significant expansions to enhance its appeal and accommodate a growing number of attractions.

The park is divided into ten thematic sections: Hollywood, New York, San Francisco, Jurassic Park, Waterworld, Amity Village, Universal Wonderland, Minion Park, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, and Super Nintendo World. These areas collectively offer a diverse range of attractions, from gentle carousels suited for children to exhilarating roller coasters and simulators inspired by blockbuster movies like The Minions, Shrek, and Jurassic Park.

Beyond the thrilling rides, Universal Studios Japan provides numerous opportunities for visitors to engage with popular characters. Guests can meet and take photos with beloved mascots such as Snoopy, Hello Kitty, and characters from the Muppets. The park also hosts a variety of shows daily, including a spectacular night parade featuring brightly illuminated floats.

Adjacent to USJ is Universal Citywalk Osaka, a vibrant shopping mall that features a range of dining options, shops selling Universal Studios merchandise, and unique Osaka souvenirs. An interesting highlight within Citywalk is the Osaka Takoyaki Museum on the fourth floor, which showcases some of the city’s most famous takoyaki vendors, offering a taste of local cuisine in a fun and accessible format.
