Wiener Philharmoniker Gasse, Salzburg

Wiener Philharmoniker Gasse, Salzburg

Located in Salzburg's historic Old Town, the Vienna Philharmonic Alley (Wiener-Philharmoniker-Gasse) is a street that stretches for nearly 200 meters. Formerly known as the Market Alley (Marktgasse) and the fashion street in earlier times, the name was changed on July 11, 1968, to honor the Vienna Philharmonic orchestra, which is considered the most important orchestra at the Salzburg Festival. The decision to rename the street was made on the occasion of the orchestra's 125th Anniversary and in recognition of their contributions.

The Vienna Philharmonic Alley runs from the University Square (Universitätsplatz) to Max Reinhardt Square (Max-Reinhardt-Platz), and it is home to the entrance of the extension of the Collegiate Church. Additionally, on Saturdays, the street becomes part of the Green Market, where visitors can purchase fresh food and flowers. The Cafe Restaurant Triangle, located on the Vienna Philharmonic Alley, has also become a popular meeting spot for festival artists and day visitors alike.
