Woodside Plaza, Perth

Woodside Plaza, Perth

Woodside Plaza is a tall building with 29 floors that acts as the main office for Woodside Petroleum. It includes a smart design to save energy. When it opened in 2004, it was the first premium-grade skyscraper in Perth since Central Park in 1992. Right now, it's the sixth highest building in the city.

The building was created by Kann Finch Group architects. It's made with a concrete framework, and its core, which holds elevators, stairs, and utility ducts, is built using a special construction method that involves pouring concrete in stages. The office levels are made with a type of construction that uses steel cables within concrete beams to support the floors. Around the edge of the building, there are columns about 27 feet apart that help support the structure. Woodside Plaza has two underground levels, two levels for equipment, 23 levels for offices, a mezzanine, and the ground floor, adding up to 29 levels in total.

The building is known for how it saves energy. For example, the system that controls the temperature uses fans that change speed to use less energy when it's not too hot, and the building is split into different areas for cooling. The indoor lights adjust based on how much natural light there is, and special glass on the outside of the building helps keep it from getting too warm.
