Yoshinao Zone of Kinshachi Yokocho Gourmet Town, Nagoya

Kinshachi Yokocho is a popular dining and shopping destination showcasing Nagoya-meshi, the city’s distinctive regional cuisine. Opened in 2018, the complex is divided into two separate zones, each with its own atmosphere and culinary focus. Together, they allow visitors to experience both the traditional and contemporary sides of Nagoya’s food culture.

The Yoshinao Zone, situated near the castle’s Main Gate, is named after Tokugawa Yoshinao, the first lord of the Owari Domain. The zone emphasizes history and tradition, with low-rise buildings designed to recall the appearance of an Edo-period castle town.

Visitors can sample familiar Nagoya specialties prepared by long-established local restaurants. Depending on the venue, these may include grilled eel served as hitsumabushi, miso-glazed pork cutlets, flat kishimen noodles, spicy chicken wings, and other regional dishes. The zone also includes shops selling confectionery, seasonings, souvenirs, and products associated with Nagoya Castle, allowing visitors to take home a taste of the city.

Together with the more contemporary Muneharu Zone near the East Gate, the Yoshinao Zone forms a convenient dining area for visitors to Nagoya Castle.
