Amsterdam Itinerary: Day 4-5, Amsterdam, Netherlands

The final day of this 4-day Amsterdam itinerary gets you for a day trip out to see the windmills of Zaanse Schans, before heading to the town of Zaandam to see some of the most unique and peculiar architecture of the country.

Before heading to Zaanse Schans from the Amsterdam Centraal station, have breakfast around the area with a few options nearby such as Omelegg, PrinsHeerlijk and Pancakes Amsterdam.

Zaanse Schans is an open-air museum featuring an industrial theme of the 18th and 19th centuries. Expect to see a number of historic and functioning windmills, so is a perfect opportunity to see how they work. There is a range of mills open for visitors, including a sawmill, a paint mill as well as an oil mill.
