Artemis, Krakow
Since 1994, ARTEMIS Gallery has been a prominent establishment in Krakow, dedicated to showcasing contemporary Polish art spanning painting, graphics, sculpture, and photography. The gallery's comprehensive collection is admirably displayed in its permanent exhibition. This venue curates showcases for both established artists, highlighting their creations, and emerging talents, nurturing their growth.
ARTEMIS has hosted over 200 individual exhibitions, while the gallery's influence extends beyond its physical space. Exhibitions have reached venues such as the Palace of Art, the International Cultural Center, the Olympic Center, and various Polish Institutes abroad.
The gallery's essence and ambiance find their roots in two generations of dedicated women: owner Janina Górka-Czarnecka and her daughter Dominika Czarnecka, who has been a steadfast supporter since 2002.
ARTEMIS Gallery actively engages in prominent Krakow events including the Festival of Jewish Culture, Photomonth in Krakow, and the International Print Triennial. Complementing each exhibition, the gallery produces catalogs, often accompanied by posters and postcards featuring reproductions of the showcased pieces.
The gallery's interiors have inspired unique installations, such as Ewa Kuryluk's "Trio for the Hidden" and "My Yellow Years," as well as Jacek Sroka's painting series "Intervention of a Cleaning Lady" and "The End of Painting." These pieces were thoughtfully crafted to harmonize with the gallery's space.
