Burger's Zoo, Arnhem (must see)

Burgers' Zoo is one of the biggest zoos in the Netherlands, popular with both Dutch and German people. It has 8 theme sites: the original zoo, a safari park, a tropical rainforest, a mangrove swamp, Sonoran Desert, and seawater aquariums, The zoo's playground, Burgers' Rimba, gives the visitor an impression of a Southeast Asian rainforest. Apart from presenting many of its animals in simulated habitat in spacious indoors ecosystems, Burgers' Zoo also has facilities for the conservation and captive breeding of animals nearly extinct. The Socorro Dove (Zenaida graysoni), for example, does not exist outside captivity at present; it was wiped out by mammals introduced to its home island. The species is being bred in Burgers' Zoo for eventual reintroduciton into the wild.
