Cantonese Methodist Church, George Town

Cantonese Methodist Church, George Town

Situated along Macalister Road, right next to the YMCA Penang, this charming church stands out for its triangle-shaped roof, resembling that of a Chinese pagoda. Unveiled in 1967, courtesy of Bishop R. F. Lundry, its mission was to spread the message of Christianity among the Cantonese-speaking community on the island.

This humble abode frequently hosts forums and discussions led by esteemed English and Chinese pastors. Come Sundays, you'll find Cantonese-speaking masses at 9, 10, and 10:30 in the morning. Need a midweek spiritual boost? Extra masses are also on offer Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays at 3 and 8 in the afternoon.

While the main chapel usually remains closed to the public, it opens its doors wide during mass times, welcoming all who seek solace and spiritual nourishment.
