Capital Comics, Annapolis

Capital Comics is an independent comic book shop that opened in 2007. The store was founded by Billy Vogt, a comic enthusiast who still runs the business and is often present in the shop. Since opening, it has become a regular stop for readers, collectors, and visitors interested in comics and pop culture, offering a place where both experienced fans and new readers can explore different series and graphic storytelling.

Inside, shelves display new comic book releases alongside back issues from earlier years. Visitors can find titles from major publishers such as Marvel, DC, and Image, as well as independent comics and graphic novels in many genres. The shop also offers trade paperbacks, manga, and collected editions. In addition to books, it carries action figures, statues, trading cards, and other pop culture merchandise.

Capital Comics also serves as a small meeting point for comic fans who stop by to discuss new releases and share recommendations. Because the store focuses mainly on retail, it has limited space for gaming. Community interaction happens through conversations, new release days, and events such as Free Comic Book Day each spring. Travelers exploring the historic district often stop in to browse comics or buy a pop culture souvenir.
