Cream, Liverpool

Cream, a legendary name in the dance music scene, was founded by Darren Hughes, Andy Carroll, and James Barton in Liverpool. Emerging as a weekly Saturday night event in 1992 at the now-demolished Nation nightclub in Wolstenholme Square, Cream quickly became one of the United Kingdom's most iconic clubbing destinations. Over a decade, it hosted an impressive roster of international DJs, including Paul van Dyk, Paul Oakenfold, Sasha, The Chemical Brothers, Steve Lawler, and Yousef.

Nation, once the heartbeat of Cream’s electrifying nights, was demolished in 2016 as part of an urban regeneration project in Liverpool. Although plans to relocate the club as part of the redevelopment were eventually scrapped, Cream's legacy continues to thrive. Its influence has extended beyond Liverpool through Creamfields, the annual dance music festival held in Daresbury, Cheshire. Creamfields has earned the "Best Dance Event" title at the UK Festival Awards six times and was named "Festival of the Year" by Music Week in 2010. The festival remains a staple of the global dance music calendar.

Cream also holds a strong presence internationally. During the Ibiza clubbing season, it takes over Amnesia every Thursday, offering revelers a taste of its high-energy, unforgettable atmosphere. Though its physical home in Liverpool may no longer stand, Cream’s spirit lives on in the memories of clubbers and through its ongoing festivals and events worldwide.
