Estacao Central e Museu do Trem do Recife, Recife
Central Station and Railway Museum of Recife (Museu do Trem) was established in 1972 within the Central Station. Now it is the Recife Metro. The museum is informative and shows the history of railroads in Brazil. The collection is vast and it includes entire locomotives, pieces and parts of locomotives, compartments and railroads as well as other memorabilia, pictures and art work on the subject. sociologist Gilberto Freyre oversees the museum. The museum is open Tuesday-Friday: 9 am - 5 pm; Saturday: 10 am - 5pm; Sunday: 10 am - 2 pm.
