Harmonia, Turku

The Harmonia fountain sculpture in Turku, created by renowned German sculptor Achim Kuhn, stands as a striking blend of artistry and modern technology. Located along the scenic Aura River, this impressive sculpture, often likened to a mermaid's or whale’s tail, measures six meters tall and is crafted from 280 hand-forged stainless steel plates. These plates, treated with advanced German techniques, give the sculpture its reflective, multi-hued sheen that captures sunlight beautifully.

Installed on the foundation of an old harbor crane, Harmonia ties into Turku’s rich maritime history. The sculpture's dual role as a visual masterpiece and functional fountain adds to its charm, with water flowing gracefully from its upper reaches between May and October. During the darker months, it is illuminated, offering a glowing beacon along the riverside.
