Hellenic Children's Museum, Athens

Dedicated to children between ages 4 and 12, the Hellenic Children’s Museum was established by a group of child development experts led by Sophia Roque-Mela. The intention was to provide children and parents with a range of interactive exhibits and activities that help in educating and entertaining children.

The Hellenic Children’s museum is housed in a historic neoclassical building in Athens. It covers more than 520 square meters of exhibition space. The building has three floors, an attic and a garden. The museum was founded in 1987. Different activities are organized, especially on weekends, where parents and children can participate and learn about the cultural and technological heritage and progress of Greece. Activities include games, audiovisual programs and unique child-oriented exhibitions.

Two floors are dedicated to activities for children. Parent sensitization courses and other education programs, geared for the benefit of children, are conducted by child development experts at the museum. 12 full-time staff members and 9 part-timers organize programs for children. Over 150 volunteers serve the museum in different disciplines for the benefit of visiting kids and their parents.
