Hot Shops Art Center, Omaha

Hot Shops Art Center, Omaha

The Hot Shops Art Center was established in 1999 by a group of innovative individuals seeking shared workspace. It has evolved into a thriving community of over 90 resident artists housed within 50 studios.

The center boasts four "hot shops" where artists engage in the intricate processes of glass blowing, pottery, bronze casting, and blacksmithing. These spaces, where temperatures soar as high as 2,300 degrees Fahrenheit, are not only functional workshops but also unique venues for learning and experimentation in the visual arts.

Visitors to the center are invited to explore its diverse offerings, including over 50 individual studios and two art galleries. From watercolors to metal sculpture, from photography to furniture restoration, the range of artwork on display reflects the richness of artistic expression nurtured within the Hot Shops community. Studio doors are often left open, welcoming the public to witness works in progress and engage in conversations with the artists. This accessibility creates an ever-evolving atmosphere where each visit promises new discoveries and insights into the creative process.
