Why not adding a little variety to game night by building a good old fashioned jigsaw puzzle, just like the Dutch? Most challenging, colorful and crowded but especially humorous are the jigsaw puzzles created by Jan Van Haasteren; a local and very talented artist whose illustrations had been featured in the popular jigsaw puzzles manufactured by Dutch toy company Jumbo for several decades. Jan’s illustrations are best known for being highly detailed, cluttered and above all for the hilarious way in which they depict typical events of the Dutch society.
With a huge collection of puzzles ranging from 500 – 5000 pieces and other special editions depending on the individual’s puzzling abilities, there is always something for everybody: from the little ones, to adults, to those new to puzzling. Don’t forget to look for Jan’s trademarks once finishing the puzzle: the shark’s fin – present in every single one of his jigsaw puzzles- and other favorites such as the hands, the dentures and last but not least, Jan’s obsession, Saint Nicholas (The Dutch version of Santa) which is always hidden somewhere in the crowd and that provides the “Made in Holland” character.
