Marine Art Gallery, Annapolis

Marine Art Gallery, Annapolis

Marine Art Gallery, officially known as the Annapolis Marine Art Gallery, focuses on paintings and artwork about ships, sailing, and life at sea. The gallery opened in the late 1970s and has operated for more than four decades. It is also the exclusive publisher of John Barber Editions, connected to the work of marine painter John M. Barber. The gallery presents artwork inspired by the maritime history of the Chesapeake Bay and the wider sailing world.

Inside, visitors can see a range of maritime artwork, including original oil paintings, watercolors, and limited-edition prints such as lithographs and giclées. Many works show tall ships, naval vessels, working boats, regattas, and harbor scenes. Some paintings focus on detailed portraits of individual ships with carefully painted rigging and sails, while others show coastal landscapes, lighthouses, and changing weather across open water.

The gallery features artists such as John M. Barber, who paints scenes of the Chesapeake Bay, Willard Bond, known for sailboat racing, and Patrick O’Brien, who focuses on ships from the Age of Sail. It also displays works by Paul Landry and John Stobart, with both original paintings and limited-edition prints available.
