MM Park France, Strasbourg
The MM Park France Museum stands as a dedicated institution commemorating the events of the Second World War, situated in La Wantzenau within the Alsace region. This museum houses the notable collection amassed by its founder, Eric Kauffmann, which holds significant importance on a European scale. Additionally, it incorporates the Sussex 1944 collection contributed by Dominique Soulier, formerly held at the Musée du Pays de la Zorn in Hochfelden.
The museum officially opened its doors on the 1st of March, 2017, marking the culmination of a project initiated over seven years earlier by Éric Kauffmann. In 2010, Kauffmann acquired the building with the purpose of consolidating his collection under one roof. What commenced in barns and deserted houses, later evolved into a global endeavor, with Kauffmann traversing countries from the United States to Russia in pursuit of rare items – including a Soviet tank. After amassing these diverse artifacts over a span of two decades, he now generously unveils his collection to the general public within this park, designed to be both entertaining and enlightening.
Among the myriad exhibits at MM Park, one can find a U-Boot 5 kiosk, underwater mines, a Tobruk structure featuring a Pz II turret, and an observation bell from the Atlantic wall. These sites can be explored via an underground passage.
With more than 120 vehicles, an airplane, and a fully replicated German speedboat spanning 20 meters on the water, the museum's premises also feature a faithful reconstruction of a Kriegsmarine base. It is worth noting that the museum possesses its own workshops dedicated to restoration.
