Old St. Patrick's Church, Chicago

Constructed in 1853, Old Saint Patrick's stands as a testament to history, a Romanesque Revival church that miraculously survived the devastating Great Chicago Fire of 1871. Its external façade, while unassuming, exudes a certain charm with Cream City brick from Milwaukee above a sturdy Joliet limestone base. Notably, the onion dome pays homage to the church in the East, while the spire represents its Western counterpart.

Following a renovation, the church's interior has been transformed into a Celtic wonderland of decoration, exemplifying a seamless blend of historical decorative traditions with cutting-edge computer technology. This transformation includes an array of exquisite pastel illuminations and fifteen splendid stained-glass windows inspired by Celtic art found at the World's Fair and the Book of Kells.

Annually, in July, the church becomes the venue for the "World's Largest Block Party", a unique fundraiser that also serves as a singles' event, adding a touch of merriment to the community.
