Praia Vermelha (the Red Beach), Rio de Janeiro

Praia Vermelha (the Red Beach), Rio de Janeiro

Praia Vermelha, also known as the Red Beach, lies between Sugar Loaf Hill and Babilônia Hill. Situated at the base of Sugarloaf Mountain, it's a small, somewhat hidden gem situated in the Urca neighborhood, which is known for its pleasant and secure environment. While not as renowned as some of Rio de Janeiro's more popular beaches, it offers an ideal escape from the bustling crowds, surrounded by natural beauty. As you stand there, you'll be greeted by a serene expanse of green ocean ahead of you, and behind you, a picturesque vista that's emblematic of the Marvelous City.

A quaint boardwalk lines the beach, dotted with kiosks offering tables where you can relax and savor a refreshing, ice-cold coconut water. To the right of the beach stands the Clube Militar da Praia Vermelha, while on the left side, you'll find the Cláudio Coutinho Track, an enchanting choice for nature enthusiasts who can't resist an eco-friendly adventure. Beyond serving as a hiking and jogging trail, it boasts one of the most breathtaking viewpoints along the entire route, providing sweeping vistas of the sea, captivating flora, and the imposing Morro da Urca.
