Rhode Island Convention Center, Providence

The Rhode Island Convention Center is a large exhibition and meeting venue opened in 1993. Its brick-and-glass exterior is marked by tall windows, broad entrance halls and a rounded corner rotunda. The transparent sections reveal stairways, structural beams and activity inside, giving the complex a more open appearance than its large scale might suggest.

Inside, the main exhibition hall provides 100,000 square feet of flexible space and can be divided into four separate halls. A 20,000-square-foot ballroom can also be divided into smaller sections, while meeting rooms and extensive pre-function areas accommodate conferences, receptions and registration zones. The glass-enclosed Rotunda Room overlooks the surrounding centre and historic hillside.

The calendar includes trade shows, sporting events, professional meetings, banquets, art exhibitions and public fairs. The building is connected to a large hotel and forms part of an entertainment complex that also includes an indoor arena, making movement between accommodations and events convenient. Visitors should check the event schedule before arriving, as the interior is primarily accessible to conference participants, ticket holders or guests attending public programs.
