Teater Galeasen, Stockholm

Teater Galeasen, Stockholm

For those who enjoy theatre, the Teater Galeasen offers the public an unconventional approach to the modern theater. This independent theater company is based in Stockholm, Sweden and has a extended history of bringing a wide selection of dramatic productions to the public. The company was founded in 1983 and presents everything from classic to contemporary and alternative to the avant-garde style of theatrical productions. This is the place where young actors come to hone their dramatic skills and develop their acting technique. In fact, many of its actors throughout its lifetime, have become quite renowned throughout the theatrical world. Considered to be one of the most unique theater companies in Sweden, the theater has produced over 60 shows, throughout its existence, including some written by Nobel Prize winners. Not a family show, the theater is known to delve into controversial and nonconformist themes which involve social decay, psychological depth, aberrant behavior and sexuality. The touring company associated with this theater has traveled internationally to places including Estonia, Italy, Finland and throughout Europe. Additionally, the group has performed throughout the Scandinavia. The box office is open Tuesday through Sunday. It is closed on Monday. Visitors will want to call the theater to find out more about the theater productions currently being presented.

Officially known, prior to 1980, as “The Town Between Bridges” (Staden mellan broarna), this bustling, yet compact area abounds in medieval alleyways, cobbled streets, and archaic (17th- and 18th-century) colorful architecture, showing a great deal of North Germanic influence.
