The View of DC, Arlington

The View of DC was a public observation deck located at the top of Central Place Tower (1201 Wilson Blvd) in Rosslyn, Arlington. Opened on June 21, 2018, the attraction occupied the tower's 31st floor at a height of nearly 400 feet, designed to provide panoramic views across the national capital region.

While it originally charged an admission fee, it transitioned to offering free admission to the public in 2019. The deck was permanently closed to the public on July 31, 2024, after the Arlington County Board approved an economic agreement to turn the space over to its new building owner, corporate tenant CoStar Group, in exchange for $14 million in funding to develop nearby Gateway Park. When it was operational, the observation level featured floor-to-ceiling glass and 360-degree views across the Potomac River, Washington D.C., Maryland, and Northern Virginia. Visitors could clearly identify prominent regional landmarks, including the Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial, U.S. Capitol, National Cathedral, the Pentagon, Arlington National Cemetery, and Georgetown. The site featured an outdoor terrace, a champagne bar, and the HoverDC multimedia flight simulation experience.

Though permanently closed, the space remains notable for having served as the highest public vantage point inside the Capital Beltway. Because public access has been completely revoked by local zoning amendments, travelers can no longer visit the deck under any circumstances.
