Cafe del Duende, Valencia
While flamenco is not native to Valencia, the popular Spanish art comes alive each night at the intimate Café del Duende. Live music performances can be found here throughout the week, mainly consisting of flamenco guitar sometimes accompanied by vocals; however, traditional flamenco dancing is may accompany the music as well. Café del Duende is a rather small club that can get easily packed, particularly on the weekends, and those wishing to enjoy some of the city’s best authentic flamenco performances are encouraged to arrive early in order to secure a seat.
Why You Should Visit:
This establishment enjoys one of the best reputations in town, and Spaniards from Barcelona and Seville travel just to see their shows – this might tell you what you need to know about the quality of entertainment on offer.
Tip:
Be sure to secure a seat alongside the stage if you can, preferably to that side situated nearest the exit door, else you'll be shunted by the comings and goings of other patrons as the show unfolds. Entry prices are super-cheap, as are bar prices too. Food on offer isn't the best in town, but it suffices as a quick nibble before the show starts.

Valencia Introduction Walking Tour

Old Town Walking Tour
Valencia’s Old Town is the sort of place where the Romans, Moors, medieval merchants, Gothic builders, Baroque decorators, and modern shoppers all seem to have comfortably found their place (albeit at different times). Beneath today’s squares, Roman streets and forum remains sit quietly underground, while above them, the city’s Islamic-era street plan still winds and twists, refusing to... view more

Contemporary Architecture Walk
With one foot in the past and the other planted firmly in the future, Valencia manages a balancing act few European cities can pull off. Gothic bell towers, Baroque façades, bustling markets, and centuries-old plazas all share the stage with structures that look as though they were delivered directly from the year 2150. Among the city’s many architectural personalities, contemporary design... view more
