Corrigan House, Sarasota

Corrigan House, Sarasota

The Corrigan House, also known as Nagirroc, is a notable historic home in Sarasota. Constructed around 1926, the house underwent renovations and beautification between that year and March of 1928, as evidenced by historical photographs and articles from the Sarasota Herald.

The two-story structure features an irregular shape and Mediterranean Revival style and is in excellent condition. It was built using hollow clay tile with a rough-textured stuccoed exterior and a hollow clay tile wall foundation. The asymmetrical front façade boasts an elaborate door surrounded by the Corrigan family crest centered above the front entry door.

The family originally hailed from Ireland. Charles E. Corrigan was a pioneer in the electrical industry, who came to Sarasota to retire but instead became one of the city's most active and public-spirited citizens. Due to their numerous philanthropic deeds and unwavering support of city improvement projects, he and his wife earned the respect and admiration of their fellow citizens.
