The Geneva Photography Center is an institution that focuses on examining the role and presentation of contemporary photography in a formal setting. Established in 1984 by a group of 11 photographers, the Photography Center was founded with the intention of elevating photography to the status of a major art form. Under the leadership of Joerg Bader from 2001 to 2021, the center expanded its activities to encompass various photography styles and techniques. It organized events and published materials that explored the intersection of documentary-style photography and visual culture, blending these aspects with other art forms. In addition to its exhibitions, the Geneva Photography Center has been offering educational programs since the autumn of 2022.
