HaPisga (Summit Garden), Tel Aviv

HaPisga (Summit Garden), Tel Aviv

Perched at the highest point of Old Jaffa, Summit Garden occupies ground layered with thousands of years of history. As the old city evolved, this hilltop was reshaped into a public park in the early 20th century and later became known as Abrasha Park, named after Avraham Schechterman, a key figure in Jaffa’s mid-20th-century development. Today, it forms a carefully landscaped haven filled with plants and flowers, set against one of the most historic vantage points along the coast.

From the top of the gardens, visitors are rewarded with expansive views across the Mediterranean and the full sweep of Tel Aviv’s coastline. The perspective takes in the Old Jaffa port, the city’s iconic clock tower, and the southern neighborhoods stretching along the shore. Within the park, several features stand out, including the “Gate of Faith,” a sculptural arch decorated with three biblical scenes—Jacob’s Dream, the Sacrifice of Isaac, and the Fall of Jericho. Nearby, you will find archaeological remains and even cannons linked to Napoleon’s 1799 campaign. A small amphitheater hosts outdoor summer events, including the “Nights in Jaffa” performances held on Saturday evenings in August, while shaded paths provide space for quieter moments.

Another highlight is the Wishing Bridge, where tradition suggests standing at sunset, touching your zodiac sign, and making a wish.
