Hard Days Night (Beatles-themed Hotel), Liverpool

The Hard Days Night Hotel on North John Street is just around the corner from the famous Cavern Club. This four-star Beatles-themed hotel occupies Central Buildings, a listed Victorian property constructed in 1884. It opened in February 2008, when Liverpool was celebrating its status as European Capital of Culture.

Standing outside, take a moment to admire the building from across the street. Look up towards the upper floors, where you will see four bronze statues representing John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr. Created by local sculptor Dave Webster, these figures are among the hotel's most distinctive features.

Past the main entrance on North John Street inside the lobby, the Beatles theme continues. Look around for the large portraits, commissioned artwork, and photographs celebrating different stages of the band's career. One particularly unusual feature is the Yellow Submarine-themed jukebox, inspired by The Beatles' famous animated film.

If you have access to the main staircase, take a look at the walls as you make your way upwards. They're decorated with large photographs of the Fab Four, creating something of a Beatles gallery within the hotel.

The building has 110 individually designed guest rooms, each featuring Beatles-inspired artwork. Its two most exclusive accommodations are the Lennon and McCartney Suites. The Lennon Suite is particularly memorable for its white grand piano, while the McCartney Suite offers its own luxurious interpretation of The Beatles theme. Keep in mind that these are private guest accommodations.

Back on the ground floor, look for Blakes Restaurant, named after artist Sir Peter Blake, who co-designed the famous Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band album cover. There's also Bar Four, known for its Beatles-inspired cocktails, and the Lounge & Bar, where visitors can relax among music-themed artwork. Access to individual venues may vary.

Once you've finished exploring, return to North John Street and turn north towards Mathew Street. Continue a short distance along this narrow street to reach the Cavern Club, where The Beatles performed hundreds of times during their early career.

Even if you're not staying overnight, the Hard Days Night Hotel is worth a stop, particularly for its impressive architecture and Beatles statues overlooking the street.
