Hisaya-odori Garden Flarie, Nagoya

Hisaya-odori Garden Flarie is a landscaped botanical garden at the southern end of Hisaya Ōdori Park. The name combines ideas associated with flowers, an atelier, and casually dropping in. Designed as a free “lifestyle garden,” the complex offers seasonal planting, water features, shops, dining venues, classes, and event spaces rather than concentrating primarily on orchids.

To explore the garden, begin near the entrance and follow the paths toward the western side of the complex. Here, the large Crystal Garden greenhouse displays seasonal flowers, foliage plants, air plants, and succulents in a climate-controlled setting. From the greenhouse, continue into the adjoining Harmony Garden, where beds of colorful roses are combined with clematis, herbs, and ornamental foliage.

Proceed toward the center of the grounds to reach Flarie Court, an open lawn and event space overlooking the garden’s main pond. The path around this pond forms the Water Garden, where hydrangeas, Christmas roses, and other seasonal plants border the water. Continue around the pond toward the more densely planted side of the grounds. The Asian Garden is identified by bamboo, crotons, and other tropical plants arranged to suggest a Southeast Asian resort garden.

Paths connect all these areas and lead past flower beds, water features, lawns, and seating spaces. Displays change throughout the year, while exhibitions, workshops, seasonal events, and winter illuminations provide additional reasons to visit. The complex also includes plant shops, a café, an Italian restaurant, and an outdoor barbecue area.
