Moti Mahal, Lucknow
Moti Mahal is a palace constructed by Nawab Saadat Ali Khan on the bank of Gomti River. The construction is also referred to as the “Pearl Palace” due to the color of the stone used in its raising. The royal family considered Moti Mahal as a leisure residence. They used balconies as platforms for watching birds in flight, as well as animal combats held on the riverbank. The palace also had military purpose. Thanks to its strong fortification details it was used as the citadel for tracking enemies' operations.
