Nor Moske, Oslo

The initial mosque established by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama'at congregation in Oslo was known as Nor Mosque. While Ahmadiyya identifies itself as an Islamic religious community, it's important to note that a significant portion of the Muslim world does not regard this group as part of mainstream Islam.

This mosque came into being during the years 1980 and 1981, taking up residence within a villa that had been originally constructed in 1899 for vicar Hans Karl Christopher Theodor Houen.

Ahmadiyya's presence began to be recognized in Norway during the 1950s, coinciding with the arrival of Pakistani immigrants. Gradually, the congregation's numbers increased, and by 2010, it was estimated to encompass approximately 1,500 members. The formal establishment of the congregation took place in 1974, followed by the inauguration of the mosque six years later.

With the introduction of the congregation's new mosque, Baitun Nasr, much of the congregation's activities transitioned to the new location. Nevertheless, ownership of the original building still rests with the congregation. Presently, a considerable portion of the structure is leased by the Oslo municipality for use as a nursery school. However, some sections of the building continue to be utilized by the local members of the congregation in the Frogner locality.
