Riverside Market, Brisbane
The Riverside Market is Brisbane’s largest and most popular outside weekend market. For more than two decades the market has drawn huge crowds every Sunday as locals and visitors alike come to see live entertainment, sample fresh produce, locally made gourmet foods, jewelry and other handicrafts. The market was born when several years ago the stores were not open on Sundays throughout the city of Brisbane. Since then crowds come each week to enjoy everything that the market has to offer while overlooking the beautiful Brisbane River and enjoying the sunshine and sub-tropical climate.
The market runs every Sunday from 8am to 3pm and there are hundreds of stalls offering a wide range of products. Some of the longstanding favorite stalls at the market include: the Lollipop Lady, who sells a wide range of old-fashioned candy and fudge; Boulder Mines offers some of the very best native Australian opals; Lippy Galore Cosmetics and A Zumble Zay handicrafts. Combine your visit with a rest stop at one of the cafes or restaurants in the center and you have the makings of a perfect Queensland Sunday outing.
